Qualifications

• Copy of high school diploma, official transcript, or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Cleared ALSDE Fieldprint background check.
• Valid driver’s license with CDL P and S endorsements.
• State Department of Education Bus Driver Certificate.
• DOT Physical.

Responsibilities

• Operates school buses safely by following traffic laws and district policies.
• Transport students on assigned or substitute routes; maintain schedule.
• Complete pre-trip/post-trip inspections; report issues.
• Manage behavior, ensure safe loading/unloading; assist students with special needs.
• Report delays/changes; communicate with transportation supervisor and principals.
• Complete logs, reports, and required forms.
• Maintain confidentiality, reliability, and flexibility; attend required training.
