Job summary

Hampshire Regional School District's William E. Norris School in Southampton, MA is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist to provide school-based services.

The OT conducts assessments, develops IEP/504-based plans, and collaborates with teachers, families, and related service providers to support student learning. Under supervision of the Principal, you will document evaluations, treatment plans, and progress, ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines, and participate in IEP

Qualifications

• State-licensed occupational therapist with school-based experience.
• Experience with IEP planning and implementation.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, families and related service providers.
• Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for special education.

Responsibilities

• Develop treatment plans (IEPs/504 plans) that are strength-based, as well as child and family centered for overall educational improvement.
• Conduct assessments, analyze results, and write reports to determine strengths and concerns for students’ skills.
• Complete thorough evaluations, including muscle tone, range of motion/mobility, orthopedic needs, movement.
• Participate in necessary meetings as part of IEP process.
• Ensure evaluations, treatment plans, and service delivery are aligned with school, state, and federal guidelines.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records and progress notes.
• Educate and demonstrate therapy techniques to parents/families that can be incorporated into the home.
• Consults and coordinates with parents, teachers and other professional workers.
• Uses instructional practices that reflect high expectations regarding content and quality of effort and work; engage all students; and are personalized to accommodate diverse learning styles, needs, interests, and levels of readiness.
• Plans and implements lessons that set clear and high expectations and also make knowledge accessible for all students.
• Welcomes and encourages every family to become active participants in the classroom and school community.
• Demonstrates the capacity to reflect on and improve the educator’s own practice, using informal means as well as meetings with teams and work groups to gather information, analyze data, examine issues, set meaningful goals, and develop new approaches in order to improve teaching and learning.
