The Treasure Valley Family YMCA’s Hillsdale Y Kids is seeking a School Age Teacher to join the team, responsible for creating an environment with a teaching team that promotes each child’s development and supports children and their family’s diverse needs and interest. Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Minimum 1 year working with children is preferred.
• Must engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
• Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
• Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that fosters safety though active supervision and by role modeling safe behavior.
• Nurture children through purposeful programs dedicated to building relationships, achievement, and belonging.
• Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with participants and parents.
• Implement the established curriculum.
• Use positive behavior guidance techniques to support children’s appropriate development and behavior.
• Monitor and ensure the health and safety of participants, families, staff, and volunteers by following and implementing Child Development Branch approved Leading Practices.
• Use Y Core Values, developmentally appropriate practices, and effective teaching strategies to support each child’s unique background, needs and different learning styles.
• Maintain an indoor and outdoor environment that is well equipped, organized, safe, clean, and welcoming. The environment is created based on the belief that all children learn best through play, positive adult interaction, and hands on open-ended experiences.
