Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music seeks a Part-time Instructor to teach ENC 540 Saxophone Ensemble, a one-credit hour course, in Spring semester 2027. The position invites applicants with a Master’s in saxophone performance and collegiate teaching experience.

The incumbent will lead rehearsals on Tuesdays 5:00–6:20 PM, develop course content, maintain the saxophone studio, and assess students per campus policies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in saxophone performance.
• Experience teaching studio saxophone at the collegiate level.
• Experience leading a traditional saxophone ensemble (preferred).
• Performance credentials.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Saxophone Ensemble rehearsals as scheduled (Tuesdays 5:00–6:20 PM).
• Build and maintain the saxophone studio.
• Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
• Prepare lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
• Deliver instruction based on course competencies and levels.
• Meet all designated class periods.
• Submit mid-semester progress reports and final grades per university rules.
• Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
• Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed evaluations.
• Foster positive rapport with students and faculty.
