Job summary

Sylvania seeks a Part-Time Safety Aide for Gilson Brown Elementary in Illinois. The role supports student safety during school entry, lunch, recess, and dismissal, ensuring orderly conduct and safe street crossing at designated locations.

Hours are early morning and mid-day shifts totaling 3.5 hours across 174 days; on-site role requiring dependable, attentive individuals who can communicate respectfully with students, parents, and staff.

Qualifications

• Assist students as they cross designated street locations
• Maintain good student conduct at the designated street locations
• Communicate in an appropriate fashion with students, parents and employees
• Supervise students in the cafeteria at breakfast and lunch. Walk around cafeteria, monitoring behavior and assisting students.
• Supervise students at recess on playground. Walk around playground area monitoring student behavior
• It is expected that 100% of the time for this position be spent on: Supervising student safety
• Protecting district from TORT liability

Hours are: 7:15am – 8:15am, 10:50am – 12:50pm, 2:15 pm – 2:45 pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist students as they cross designated street locations
• Maintain good student conduct at the designated street locations
• Communicate in an appropriate fashion with students, parents and employees
• Supervise students in the cafeteria at breakfast and lunch. Walk around cafeteria, monitoring behavior and assisting students.
• Supervise students at recess on playground. Walk around playground area monitoring student behavior
• It is expected that 100% of the time for this position be spent on:
• Supervising student safety
