Job summary

CPS is seeking Part-Time Aides to support supervision of students before, during, and after the school day. Roles are limited to up to 3.75 hours per day and focus on safe, orderly activity during non-instructional times.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and some experience supervising children; ability to follow instructions and school policies is essential.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED required.
• One year of experience supervising children preferred.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work with and for school children.
• Ability to learn and follow school and district policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students before, during, and after school during non-instructional times.
• Assist supervision during lunch and/or recess periods.
• Assist during study halls held during non-instructional minutes.
• Assist during in-school suspensions and student entry/exit.
• Be present in and around the school building and campus.

Part-Time Aides

OVERVIEW

position can be used to assist with the supervision of students during non-instructional activities before, during, and/or after the school day. Part-Time Aides can work for the school, but for no longer than 3.75 hours each day.

DUTIES OF PART-TIME AIDES

Some examples of duties that can be performed by Part-Time Aides include assisting with supervision of students:

• During lunch and/or recess period(s)
• During study halls (to only be held during non-instructional minutes)
• During in-school suspensions
• During student entry/exit
• In and around the school building

Part-Time Aides cannot take on the duties of other clearly defined school-based positions, including but not limited to teacher’s assistants, instructional assistants, special education classroom assistants, children’s welfare attendants, security guards or aides, clerks, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Part-Time Aides must have the following qualifications:

• High school degree or GED equivalent (required)
• One year of experience in the supervision of children in an organized setting (preferred)
• Ability to work with and for school children
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to learn and follow school and district policies, procedures, and expectations.
