Job summary

Smart & Final in El Cajon, CA is seeking a part-time Retail Associate to help customers, stock merchandise, and maintain clean, organized aisles.

Starting pay is $16.90 per hour, with benefits such as a 401(k) retirement plan and continuing education opportunities. You will price merchandise, validate codes, set up displays, assist customers to their vehicles when needed, and perform light bookkeeping.

Qualifications

• Read and write English; interact with the general public and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Apply common sense to follow written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs; frequently up to 45 lbs; occasionally up to 60 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise using proper equipment.
• Assure proper pricing on merchandise; check product date codes and rotation; stock shelves and displays.
• Prepare perishable products for sale as needed.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays.
• Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all areas of store and parking lot.
• Offer friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and courteous assistance to customers with current store/product information.
• Load customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles when requested.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties, including recording lost/damaged goods and store supplies.
