Job summary

Smart & Final in Bakersfield is seeking a Part-time Retail Associate to serve customers, stock merchandise, and maintain store presentation at the 803 Bakersfield location. This role supports the community, offers a starting rate of $16.90 per hour, and involves working with a friendly team in a fast-paced, member-free grocery warehouse environment.

Qualifications

Read and write English, interact with general public and co-workers.
Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
Write simple correspondence.
Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Responsibilities

Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise using proper equipment (excluding power/heavy equipment).
Assure proper pricing on merchandise, check product date codes and rotate stock.
Prepare perishable products for sale as needed.
Set up advertising/promotional displays.
Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of store and parking lot.
Offer friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and courteous assistance to customers.
Load customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles.
Perform basic bookkeeping duties, including recording lost/damaged goods and store supplies.
