Job summary

Illinois Central College seeks a part-time Reference Librarian for the Learning Resources department on the Peoria Campus. The role combines research assistance, tailored library instruction for courses, and active participation in collection development to support the college curriculum.

The incumbent will assist patrons, coordinate interlibrary loan, and contribute to reports and events. Start date is October 26, 2026, with on-site duties in the Library and Administration Building, S117.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Research materials and information via in-person or online requests by students, faculty, staff and community patrons.
• Work with faculty to design library instruction for specialized courses; schedule and conduct orientation classes.
• Instruct patrons in the use of the library materials and computer systems.
• Participate in collection development and work with faculty to encourage their participation in the process.
• Assist users in obtaining materials via interlibrary and interlibrary loan.
• Assemble data for library reports.
• Provide circulation services as needed.
• Support Library events or programs in collaboration with other departmental staff.
• Participate in professional development opportunities within the college and statewide.
• Perform related duties as required.
