Job summary

Lansing Community College is seeking a Part-Time Academic Librarian to support students and staff with research and information needs. The Librarian will deliver reference services in person and virtually, and teach information literacy to individual students and classes.

Responsibilities include developing online guides, supporting collection development, and liaising with departments to align library resources with coursework.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Information Science (MLS) from an ALA accredited program or within 6 months of completion.
• Demonstrated work experience providing reference service/research help.
• Demonstrated library instruction or teaching experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of print and electronic information resources.
• Preferred: academic library experience.
• Preferred: familiarity with web content development and mobile/web technologies.
• Preferred: demonstrated communication, problem solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Delivering in person and virtual reference assistance
• Teaching academic research (information literacy) in 1:1 sessions and customized for individual classes utilizing a variety of instructional delivery modes and technologies
• Providing convenient access to credible and reliable academic information resources in a variety of formats
• Serving as library liaison to departments and teaching faculty
• Developing content for the library website, online tutorials and research guides
• Supporting collection development projects
• Supporting library goals and initiatives
