Job summary

Illinois Central College seeks a Part-time Reference Librarian to join the Learning Resources team at the Peoria campus. The role blends research assistance, circulation desk support, and tailored library instruction to bolster curriculum and student success.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s in Library Science, be proficient with MS Office, and demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills to assist students, faculty, and the community.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Research materials and information via in-person or online requests by students, faculty, staff and community patrons.
• Work with faculty to design library instruction for specialized courses; schedule and conduct orientation classes.
• Instruct patrons in the use of the library materials and computer systems.
• Participate in collection development and encourage faculty participation in the process.
• Assist users in obtaining materials via interlibrary and interlibrary loan.
• Assemble data for library reports.
• Provide circulation services as needed.
• Support Library events or programs in collaboration with other departmental staff.
• Participate in professional development opportunities within the college and statewide.
• Perform related duties as required.
