The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a part-time Library Reference Assistant to support our campus library services at Albany, Oregon. This pooled, ongoing posting accepts applications for immediate review when openings arise.

Responsibilities include assisting patrons with locating materials, providing basic to intermediate reference help, and supporting cataloging, web updates, and circulation tasks. Strong communication and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum qualifications shown in postings: high school diploma or equivalent plus 3 years full-time related experience; or AA/AS with library/computer science emphasis plus 1 year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of library operations and available materials and services.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work with patrons and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide library support to users with information and technical assistance.
• Offer basic to intermediate reference and research help; refer complex questions as needed.
• Update the library website and use library systems for circulation/cataloging tasks.
• Assist with software applications and refer to librarians when appropriate.
• Collaborate with faculty to prepare research guides and bibliographies.
