Job summary

American University is seeking a detail-oriented student to support Instructional Designers in developing online courses in Canvas. This part-time, hybrid position is open to current AU students with an active Federal Work Study award.

You will assist in designing courses, fixing accessibility issues, formatting slides for video, and embedding content in Canvas while collaborating with a team. 5–10 hours weekly at $18.40/hour, with potential continuation semester to semester.

Qualifications

• Current AU student with an active Federal Work Study (FWS) award
• Organized, proactive and meticulous
• Flexible, adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities
• Basic understanding of Canvas LMS and Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new courses and revise existing ones in Canvas with ODLS designers
• Fix accessibility issues in provided files
• Format slide decks for video production
• Embed video content on Canvas pages
• Review courses in Canvas for accessibility and quality assurance
• Review video footage and correct machine-generated captions
