Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a part-time Physical Therapy Assistant to provide services under supervision of a licensed PT in Rehab. You will contribute to developing and implementing a functional plan of care and educate patients and families.

The role requires Associate degree with Maryland PTA license or eligibility, and AHA BLS certification. It offers a per diem, day shift, on-site schedule with supportive team and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from a physical therapist assistant training program accredited by American Physical Therapy Association.
• Required: Associate degree.
• State of Maryland Physical Therapist Assistant License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
• American Heart Association BLS

Responsibilities

• Provides physical therapy services under supervision of a licensed physical therapist to patients across the age continuum.
• Assists the physical therapist within established guidelines to develop a rehabilitative plan of care with realistic goals, based on a functional evaluation or reassessment.
• Provides education to patients, family members, students, staff and to the community at large.
• Coordinates services with other medical disciplines, making recommendations as appropriate to facilitate a complete rehabilitative process.
• Participates in Performance Improvement and Risk Management.
• Providing treatment and services within their license scope and as required by law and regulation.
• Accountable for the implementation of a written treatment plan and administers treatment for each patient according to the stated goals.
• Helps train patients and the patient’s family in the use of medical equipment and make recommendations for appropriate equipment as necessary.
• Participates in planning for patient discharge by considering and communicating with patients, families, and community.
• Continuously assesses patient’s status and effects of treatment when warranted. Reviews goals with patient and family as appropriate during plan of care.
