Midland College offers a Part-time Reference Librarian position at the Main Campus in Midland, TX. The role supports the Reference and Circulation departments, assisting students, faculty, and the public with information resources for instructional research.

Sunday evenings and one weeknight per week are required, with on-call duties as needed. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and at least one year in a library or related setting, plus experience with databases, OPAC, and AV equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Minimum of one year working in a library or related setting.
• Experience with personal computers, photocopiers/scanners, library information systems, overhead projectors and audio/visual equipment.
• Customer-service oriented.
• Self-directed.

Responsibilities

• Provides reference assistance to library patrons in using books, journals, and other printed resources in the collection.
• Assist patrons with accessing databases, e-books, and e-magazines.
• Assists with online public access catalog (OPAC) for book holdings information.
• Circulation desk assistance.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Frequently moves books or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Use of manual dexterity.
• Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
• The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information.
• The person in this position needs to frequently move throughout library to assist students.
• Quiet environment for studying.
