Job summary

Mohawk Valley Community College is seeking a part-time Reference Librarian for the Utica Campus Library. The role involves delivering general reference services in person and online, assisting patrons, and supporting information literacy through instructional sessions.

The position is part-time (10-month) with evening and weekend hours, 10–20 hours per week, and requires a Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program or anticipated completion by December 2026.

Responsibilities

• Provides general reference services in person and online.
• Provides excellent customer service: welcome patrons, enforce library policies, assist in opening and closing the library as needed.
• Conducts instructional sessions as part of the library’s information literacy program.
• Provides computer-related assistance to patrons in library lab areas.
• Assists with the creation of research guides and online tutorials in support of library instruction and other library services.
• Oversees library facilities and ensure smooth operations at assigned campus location.
• Contributes to special projects as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of College Libraries.
