Responsibilities

  • Oversee facility personnel and assume on-site supervision during events.

  • Open facilities, manage lights, and ensure restrooms are ready for events.
  • Report injuries or ejections and coordinate with supervisors as needed.

Part Time Recreation & Parks Facility Supervisor

The Part-Time Facility Supervisor supports and assists the Athletic and Program Directors & Athletic and Program Coordinators as on-site personnel during recreation department seasonal activities - 29.5 hours per week.

Essential Job Functions*:

  • Serves as authority figure representing the Hanahan Recreation Department at assigned facility.
  • Oversee scorekeepers, referees, participants, spectators, etc. that are assigned or at the facility.
  • Enforces property rules, regulations, and policies of the City of Hanahan.
  • Resolves issues and solves problems as quickly as possible; reports or refers unsolved problems to higher supervisors through approved chain of command, including, but not limited to, Hanahan Police Department.
  • Reports to the Hanahan Recreation Department 15-30 minutes prior for briefing of assigned information.
  • Ensures all athletic personnel have arrived for each event, i.e. scorekeepers, referees, participants, etc.
  • Opens all restrooms and buildings, turns on appropriate lights.
  • Assists in maintaining equipment to ensure safe and good working conditions.
  • Ensures proper set up, field markings, inspects trash cans, and cleans debris.
  • Turns in score sheets to the Hanahan Recreation Dept after each shift.
  • Interacts with public in a positive matter.
  • Completes and reports injuries and ejections as necessary.
  • Provides awareness of inclement weather and field regulations during lightning, rain, and other conditions and designated HRD safety procedures.
  • Performs other related assigned duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of various types of recreation activities.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures of the Hanahan Recreation Department.
  • Knowledge of rules relating to athletic leagues and games.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs.
  • Ability to apply supervisory skills to a variety of activities to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform manual labor requires good physical conditioning.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and six months of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • First Aid/ CPR, AED certifications/training are required within one year of employment.
  • Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

  • Must have adequate environmental tolerance, including ability to tolerate high temperatures and confining workspaces.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout facilities.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to maintain equipment and buildings.
  • Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Must have finger and manual dexterity, strength, and physical stamina.
  • Must have body flexibility including multi-limb coordination.
  • Must have adequate depth perception, visual acuity, visual stamina, and auditory perception.
  • Ability to understand department rules and regulations, City of Hanahan rules and regulations and standard operating procedures and the ability to help formulate same.
  • Must be able to concentrate, memorize and reason logically.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies effectively, to change effectively, and to directives effectively.

Starting salary:$14.99/hour. The City of Hanahan offers a competitive benefit package including a flexible work schedule and paid vacation/sick time off. Schedule includes evening, Monday to Friday with weekend availability. May be asked to work additional or different hours or days to meet operational needs.
