Job summary

Seattle Parks and Recreation seeks two permanent half-time Recreation Center Assistant Coordinator positions, each working 20 hours per week. Community Centers serve neighborhoods with programs 7 days a week, requiring evening, night, and weekend shifts.

The roles act as secondary supervisors for building operations, programming, and community engagement. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field, driver license, and First Aid/ CPR within six months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Recreation Administration, or related field.
  • Experience programming a community recreation center.
  • Experience in program registration systems.
  • Experience collaborating with other recreation professionals to deliver high quality programs for the public.

Responsibilities

  • Assist supervisor in planning, coordinating, supervising, assigning, monitoring and evaluating the work of Recreation Leaders, Recreation Attendants, interns and volunteers who provide recreational programs for the general public.
  • Develop and recommends recreation-specific recreation programming techniques, procedures, materials and equipment; informs and instructs subordinates, volunteers and participants concerning policies, procedures and programs.
  • Assist supervisor in reviewing and preparing recommendations for new recreation center programs and recreation program policies for the department; coordinates the implementation of approved community center programs.
  • Provide input for the preparation of the center's annual budget; recommends budgets for specialized recreation programs; prepares grant proposals as assigned.
  • Assist supervisor in organizing, staffing and coordinating the activities of the center's advisory council.
