Job summary

Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation is seeking a Rec Activities Assistant (Part-Time) to support a variety of events, from athletic scorekeeping to community events across Martinsburg and Berkeley County.

The role requires handling schedules, keeping game records, and coordinating with officials. You will work flexible hours including evenings and weekends in a dynamic, public-facing environment.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be at least 16 years of age and working toward High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
• Team player who works well in team setting and individually.
• Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate the scoreboard and manage the official game time and score.
• Keep statistics accurate on player performance during the game.
• Record the score in both electronic and paper formats, depending on the eventrequirements.
• Track playing time for all players, depending on the event requirement.
• Work closely with game officials to ensure rules are followed and the contest remains fair.
• Maintain official team rosters and verify player eligibility, including checking suspension lists prior to the game.
• Set up and inspect scoring equipment before the event.
• Identify and report any maintenance or safety issues to supervisory staff for prompt resolution.
• Use effective oral communication and problem-solving skills in fast-paced game environments.
• Clearly communicate with referees, coaches, and event staff to support the smooth operation of each game.
• Community Events: Working with other coordinators during community events such as June Jubilee, Movie nights and Special events.
• Perform other related duties as required
