Job summary

Aspire Health and Community Services invites applications for a Peer Specialist within the Adult Community Clinical Services (ACCS). This part-time role supports clients with recovery, leads peer counseling, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to promote dignity and engagement in treatment.

Qualified candidates have lived mental-health experience, a High School Diploma, and must obtain Peer Specialist Certification within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Current or previous experience as a consumer of mental health services required
• Peer Specialist Certification required within 6 months from date of hire
• Valid driver's license and access to personal vehicle required
• Bilingual skills and/or experience with multicultural populations preferred
• Must have a strong commitment to recovery and community living

Responsibilities

• carry out rehabilitation and support functions and assist in treatment
• provide education, support, and consultation to families
• provide crisis intervention under the clinical supervision of staff with professional degrees
• provide mentor and outreach services to ACCS clients
• provide peer counseling and support, drawing on common experiences as a peer, to validate clients' experiences and provide guidance and encouragement to clients to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery
• collaborate with the team to promote a team culture in which client self-determination is maximized
