Job summary

Howell Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant at Three Fires Elementary School in Howell, MI. The role is part-time, 23 hours per week, with an 8:40 a.m. to 2:55 p.m.

schedule, Monday to Thursday. Wages are set per the HESPA Master Agreement, with a starting date of Aug 17, 2026. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and meeting one of several education/assessment criteria.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and must meet one of the following requirements.
• Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester hours) or an Associate’s Degree (or higher).
• Meet a formal state/local assessment: paraPro, MTTC Basic Skills, SAT/ACT/MME/WorkKeys as specified.
• Ability to communicate effectively, be highly organized, and work directly with children in an instructional setting.
• Basic computer application skills (Google apps, etc).

Responsibilities

• Provide small group instruction for students through guided reading and literacy groups.
• Maintain and update records on students as required by the government.
• Coordinate with classroom teachers to monitor, reinforce, and evaluate student performance.
• Maintain and update the Monitoring Notebook for state audits.
• Respond to inquiries from auditors during State of Michigan grant audits.
• Attend continuous, intensive professional development within and outside the district.
• Other duties as assigned.
