Job summary

Howell Public Schools is hiring a Food Service Assistant#2 for the Little Highlanders Learning Center in Howell, Michigan. You will support the Food Service Supervisor with meal prep, serving and sanitation to provide high-quality nutrition to staff and students.

This ten-month, part-time role runs Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. Regular attendance is required, with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and occasional shifts at other school sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and must pass a basic math skills test.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written).
• Ability to work with the public and students.

Responsibilities

• Assist in lunch prep and follow lunch menu, cleaning and sanitizing workspace.
• Follow recipes and food safety protocols during cooking.
• Wash pots and pans and sanitize workspaces and equipment.
• Prepare breakfast and snack items as needed and manage portions to control costs.
• Record temperatures and quantities on production records as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of carts, refrigerators and work area at day end.
