Job summary

Howell Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional at Hutchings Elementary School in Howell, Michigan. The role provides academic, social, and behavior support to students with special needs, either individually or in small groups, to help them succeed in general education settings.

The position is a 10-month, part-time role (29.5 hours/week) with union HESPA. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and meet one of several education/assessment options;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of college (60 semester hours) or an Associate’s Degree.
• Meeting the state/local assessment options (ParaPro, MTTC, SAT, ACT, MME, or WorkKeys) is acceptable.
• Transcripts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Support students in general and special education classrooms.
• Assist with behavior intervention plans.
• Monitor assignment completion and accuracy.
• Maintain positive relationships with parents and staff.
• Adapt materials to meet diverse needs.
