Job summary

The Vigo County Harrison Township Assessor's Office is seeking a Part Time Deputy Assessor to assist in property assessments, documentation, and public inquiries. This role supports the office with data entry, record keeping, and field work as needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and the ability to obtain Indiana Level I/II Assessor/Appraiser certifications. Candidates must pass a drug test and comply with departmental policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Indiana Level I and/or Level II Assessor/Appraiser certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the assessment of real and/or personal property.
• Performs various clerical duties, such as typing, keyboard entry, filing, sorting, and data entry.
• Assists in assessment of mobile homes, sketches houses onto system and makes changes if necessary, including data entry of commercial businesses, and working closely with the public.
• Answers telephone and greets office visitors, providing property and assessment information, and/or directing callers to appropriate individual or department.
• Downloads required information onto appropriate computer system, and pulls file cards and matches with deeds to make current.
• Calculates all breakouts on homestead for Harrison Township. Verifies sales information, approves and enters all data information.
• Processes appeals, works on agreements and completes required forms, mailing to taxpayer and scheduling hearings.
• Assists the Field Agent with duties including, but not limited to, gathering and sorting building permits, checking property cards, and checking throughout Harrison Township for new construction, remodels, garages, sheds, and pools.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
