Cambrian College’s School of Skills Training seeks qualified part-time professors to teach in the Powerline Technician program starting September 2026.

Qualified candidates hold a Powerline Technician (434A) Certificate of Qualification; a Red Seal or Apprenticeship certificate is an asset. Minimum five years of Journeyperson distribution experience and strong communication are essential for success in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Powerline Technician (434A) Certificate of Qualification required.
• Journeyperson Red Seal Certification or Certificate of Qualification preferred.
• Five years of practical work experience in distribution at the Journeyperson level.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to teach with current teaching strategies and be a classroom role model.
• Organizational skills and computer software proficiency.
• Ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Teach in the Powerline Technician program at Cambrian College.
• Review and prepare course materials for certificate programs.
• Engage students with practical instruction and assessments.
• Collaborate with faculty to support apprenticeship and postsecondary activities.

Position Summary

Cambrian College’s School of Skills Training is seeking part-time professors to teach in the Powerline Technician program starting in September 2026.

Qualifications

Required:

• Powerline Technician (434A) Certificate of Qualification is required; a Powerline Technician Certificate of Apprenticeship is considered an asset (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
• Minimum five years of practical work experience in distribution at the Journeyperson level is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and superior oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to be an effective role model in the classroom.
• Ability to use creative teaching approaches and current and emerging teaching and learning strategies to enhance student progress.
• Possess good organizational skills and sound computer software skills.
• Ability to function within a team environment.

Additional Assets/Preferred:

• Postsecondary diploma in Powerline Technician or Advanced Diploma.
• Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
• Experience with apprenticeship mentorship, adult or post-secondary level teaching is considered an asset.
• Overhead or utility experience is considered an asset.
