Overview:

WWJ Newsradio 950 in Detroit is looking for a part‑time producer and editor to join our award‑winning newsroom. This fast‑paced role involves putting together newscasts on weekends and in the evenings during the week. The ideal candidate is a news junkie who knows Detroit and Michigan, is organized, excels at finding news stories, and thrives with breaking news.

Responsibilities:

• Edit and produce newscasts, including selecting, editing, and writing news content.
• Manage the flow of news and information.
• Edit audio for broadcast and digital assets.
• Collaborate with colleagues about news coverage, proposing and contributing to daily and long‑term coverage plans.
• Research and coordinate compelling live and pre‑recorded interviews.
• Follow‑up on news tips and breaking stories, and conduct interviews with officials and newsmakers.
• Promote news coverage on social media.
• Protect the station’s FCC license.
• Perform other duties as required by management.

Qualifications:

• This job involves working Saturday and Sunday.
• Required to join SAG‑AFTRA.
