Job summary

Armed Services YMCA seeks a part-time preschool assistant to support the teacher in delivering an enriching early learning program for children. You will assist with classroom activities, prepare materials, and communicate progress to parents/caregivers at Marine Corp Base Hawaii.

Qualifications

• Experience working with preschool age children.
• Strong understanding of issues military families undergo.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher develop and deliver an enriching early learning program.
• Vary activities used in the learning centers/desk work to provide different developmental opportunities.
• Model effective behaviors for parents to emulate with their child; implement behavior plan.
• Inform parents on child development through formal and informal discussions and progress reports.
• Prepare materials prior to each preschool session.
• Interact with parents/caregivers and children, modeling appropriate behavior.
• Follows all Child Abuse reporting procedures.
• Maintain attendance and submit weekly rosters and monthly lesson plans.
• Submit on-time timesheets.
• Attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings.
• Communicate chain of command expectations.
• Maintain classroom orderly and organize toys/materials daily.
• Notify Branch Director when toys/equipment need replacement due to unsafe conditions.
