Hayward Area Recreation and Park District in Hayward, CA is seeking a Program Instructor for our Pre-K Programming. This role focuses on developing age-appropriate curriculum and supervising participants to foster social, physical, and cognitive development.

This part-time, hourly position supports a Monday-Thursday schedule, 8AM–12PM, 16–18 hours per week, with ASAP start. Candidates should have First Aid/CPR/AED certification within two weeks of employment and enjoy working in a team

Qualifications

• Completion of high school.
• At least 4 years of experience with working with preschool age children.
• 12 postsecondary units in Early Childhood Education (ECE).
• Possession of or ability to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within two weeks of employment.

Responsibilities

• Develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities to stimulate children's cognitive skills, abilities and development.
• Evaluate needs of children, staff and site to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.
• Supervise the activities of children and record observations of children's behavior and activities; monitor behavioral patterns.
• Schedule parent conferences to discuss children's development and concerns; work with family to devise learning and development strategies as necessary.
• Maintain accurate attendance and complete required records; maintain confidential records.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of subordinate staff.
• Manage storage and inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Participate in meetings and training sessions.
• Maintain good public relations.
• At all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors and the public.
