Job summary

Hayward Area Recreation and Park District is seeking a Recreation Specialist III to support Youth Sports programs at the San Lorenzo Community Center and in Hayward. This part-time, hourly role emphasizes administrative support, event setup, and on-site coordination to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in a recreation department or community-focused environment.
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly, solutions-oriented approach.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Background in supporting youth sports programs or coaching young participants is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and conduct classes in specialty fields for groups of various ages and interests.
• Provide oversight for specific projects, programs and events; and
• Coordinate programs with City staff and commissions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and train subordinates within a specialty field.
• Maintains records of participation and collects participant fees.
• Administers program budgets and contracts.
• Respond to participant inquiries from the public and external agencies.
