Job summary

The Hayward Area Recreation District is seeking two Program Instructors to support our Challenge Course. You will lead cooperative games and high ropes activities for participants from middle school to adults, using a Challenge by Choice approach and prioritizing safety and engagement outdoors.

This role involves equipment inspections, daily safety checks, and collaboration with fellow staff. The position averages about 18 hours per week, mostly daytime on weekdays and Saturdays, with First

Qualifications

• Curriculum development experience for recreation programs.
• Strong communication with diverse age groups.
• Ability to enforce safety rules and procedures.
• Emergency response skills.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement curriculum for the program.
• Ensure safety and proper technique of participation.
• Plan and instruct group recreation programs/classes.
• Coordinate marketing and outreach of programs.
• Provide high level customer service to parents and participants.
• Maintain records and complete required reports.
• Report any repairs or maintenance on equipment or facility used.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers.
