Job summary

Tri-County Community Action Agency in Wakefield, RI is seeking an energetic Classroom Substitute to support Early Head Start, Basic Head Start, and State Pre-K programs. This as-needed role supports a safe, engaging learning environment for ages 18 months through 5 years.

Responsibilities include assisting the co-teacher, conducting age-appropriate activities, supporting mealtime routines, and promoting social skills and healthy eating.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience working with children aged 18 months to 5 years.
• Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA credentials preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Must be able to work in a team environment with staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, healthy learning environment for children ages 18 months-5 years.
• Assist the co-teacher in daily, age-appropriate activities and routines.
• Support mealtime routines and help children develop social and self-help skills.
• Prepare, set up, conduct, and clean up daily activities in collaboration with the team.

General Responsibility : Ensure a safe, healthy learning environment for children ages 18 months-5 years. Tri-County Community Action Agency is looking for energetic, enthusiastic substitute teachers. Background knowledge in completing assessments, implementing curriculum tools, and understanding of the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards is a plus.

Specific Responsibilities : Providing an environment that is socially and emotionally supportive to children and their families. Assisting the co-teacher, as directed, in conducting daily, age-appropriate activities for the children. Helping with the necessary steps to implementing mealtime. Eating with and assisting children in the development of social and self-help skills and sound nutritional practices. Working alongside co-teacher, as directed, in preparing, setting up, conducting and cleaning up daily, age-appropriate activities for the children.

Qualifications : 1 -2 years of experience working with childre n of this age group ( 18 months -5 years). Preferred qualifications are: Associates D egree Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler CDA , or Preschool CDA . Knowledge of the Rhode Island Early Lear ning and Development Standards preferred.

Special Qualifications : Be at least 18 years of age. CPR/First Aid Certified preferred. Must be able to work in a team environment with staff and families, be creative, and have good communication and leadership skills. Willingness to be flexible to meet the needs of the program.
