Job summary

Comprehensive-Community-Action (CCAP) in Rhode Island is seeking a Pre GED-Adult Education Teacher to help youth ages 16–24 transition into GED classrooms using individualized lessons and CASAS assessments.

The position is part-time, 12 hours per week, with schedule flexibility and potential work at multiple CCAP locations. Applicants should hold a BA/BS in Education with at least 3 years of teaching experience and ESL/ELL expertise.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Education or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience.
• Expertise in adolescent development.
• Experience working with ESL and ELL learners.
• Organizational skills.
• Behavior management techniques.
• Excellent written and oral skills.
• Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations.
• Complete all required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a classroom.
• Develop and maintain individual lesson plans for each student.
• Create and maintain a positive learning environment and standards of behavior.
• Adapt and differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs.
• Maintain strong relationships with students, contacting them as needed with the intent to promote persistence and retention.
• Implement comprehensive Pre GED lessons around (4) test subjects: Reading, Math, Social Studies, and Science.
• Utilize CASAS assessments and data.
• Analyze data to inform instruction and create an individualized learning experience for students.
• Teaching to enhance students learning and development using CCR standards and NRS performance standards and outcomes framework.
• Collaborate with supervisor to evaluate and provide necessary information/data.
• Utilize the program’s curriculum framework to guide instruction, implement curriculum, and incorporate standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
