Job summary

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a part-time Surgery Scheduler to join the Plastic Surgery Department at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh. Hours: Monday–Friday, flexible. Location: UPMC Passavant Hospital.

This role focuses on coordinating admissions, pre/postoperative care, and patient education with EPIC and other practice management tools. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and 2–4 years in a medical field, with proficiency in medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a medical assisting program or 2-4 years of medical experience.
• Proficiency in medical terminology preferred.
• Knowledge of Epic practice management programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor patient follow-up using Refract Tracker and EPIC.
• Prepare admission reservations with demographics and insurance information.
• Coordinate cases and obtain hospital admissions approval.
• Discuss financial arrangements prior to surgery including pre-payments.
• Ensure informed consents are signed.
• Provide pre and postoperative instruction per service guidelines.
• Schedule pre-screening exams and surgical cases for all patients.
• Answer inquiries and provide educational material.
