Job summary

CALRegional is seeking a part-time Phlebotomy Technician Lead Instructor to teach the Phlebotomy Technician program in California. The schedule runs Monday-Thursday evenings, 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm, with a 3-12 week program and no teaching experience required.

Ideal candidates hold a CPT license, have 3 years of CLIA lab experience in the last 5 years, and are comfortable speaking to groups, using tech tools, and guiding students toward a 40-hour externship in a lab or hospital.

Qualifications

• Current CPT License.
• Must have 3 years of documented on-the-job experience in a CLIA lab within the last 5 years.
• No teaching experience is required.
• Must be proficient in all aspects of blood collection, including capillary, syringe, vacutainer, and butterfly methods.
• Must be comfortable with speaking to large groups, multi-tasking, and critical thinking.
• Efficient with computers and technology.
• Organized and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Instructing students in all aspects of the Phlebotomy Technician scope of practice.
• Evaluating, reporting, and recording student performance and progress.
• Prepare students in a 72-hour class to go on to a 40-hour externship in a lab or hospital.
• Assisting students to develop an understanding of values, attitudes, and ideals appropriate to the health care profession.
• Providing a professional role model for students
