Job summary

The University of Akron is seeking a part-time Phlebotomy Instructor to deliver curriculum and supervise students in lab settings and clinical rotations. The role requires current CPT certification and at least 2 years of hands-on phlebotomy experience.

Experience in teaching or clinical training is preferred and will be valued in shaping engaging lectures and labs. Responsibilities include updating course material, ensuring compliance with CLIA/HIPAA, and maintaining accurate student records.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years hands-on phlebotomy experience in a clinical, hospital, or laboratory setting.
• Thorough understanding of venipuncture techniques, anatomy and physiology, specimen handling and processing, safety protocols (OSHA/CLIA/HIPAA).
• Familiarity with healthcare documentation and EMR systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills; ability to develop and deliver engaging lectures, labs, and hands-on training.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations (CLIA, HIPAA) and accrediting agency requirements for phlebotomy programs.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses part-time for an appointed term; prepare and deliver curriculum per university and accreditation standards.
• Supervise and evaluate students' clinical performance in lab settings or rotations.
• Stay current on advances in phlebotomy and integrate them into the curriculum.
