Qualifications

• Phlebotomy training required.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy or medical assistant certificate.

Responsibilities

• Collect venous and fingerstick blood specimens from all patient types and ages per policies.
• Train and orient new staff in blood collection procedures.
• Operate the laboratory computer system for job activities.
• Monitor supplies to maintain adequate inventory.
• Package and transport specimens to appropriate departments for processing.
• Answer phones, beepers, and pages to respond to workflow changes.
• Ensure 100% patient identification during collection.
