Responsibilities

• Collect venous and fingerstick blood specimens from patients of all ages in accordance with policies.
• Train and orient new employees, students, and homecare nurses in blood collection practices.
• Operate laboratory computer system for job activities.
• Monitor and order supplies to maintain inventory.
• Package and transport specimens to appropriate departments for processing.
• Answer phones and beepers to respond to workflow changes.
• Ensure 100% positive patient identification.
