Job summary

Summit Health is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to join our satellite lab team. The role focuses on aseptic blood collection, specimen processing for the main lab, and accurate labeling for transport. You will support urgent care operations with reliable sample handling.

The candidate should have 2+ years phlebotomy experience, HIPAA knowledge, and strong attention to detail; weekend hours and after-school shifts are possible at nearby locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years phlebotomy experience required and drug screen collection preferred.
• Phlebotomy Technician Certification through the National Health Career Association (NHA) preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA guidelines and laboratory requirements to include skills in phlebotomy techniques with adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Uses aseptic technique to draw blood cultures.
• Processes specimens for the main lab.
• Prepares collection containers with preservatives for home collection (Urine & Stool).
• Measures and records volumes for 24-hr collections.
• Collects H. pylori Breath test samples.
• Handles orders for minors with proper documentation.
• Maintains LIS data entry and downtime procedures.
• Trains new staff on lab policies and procedures.
