Job summary

Middlesex County STEM Charter School is seeking a Permanent Substitute Teacher to join our in-person staff in Middlesex County, NJ. Responsibilities include delivering lessons, maintaining a positive classroom environment, tracking student progress, and communicating with teachers and administrators.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree and NJ teaching certification (Substitute, CE, CEAS, or Standard). TB test and U.S. work authorization are required; prior teaching experience is a plus.

Permanent Substitute Teacher

Responsibilities Include:

• Delivering lesson plans and engaging students effectively.
• Managing the classroom by maintaining a positive, respectful classroom environment and handling behavior issues.
• Track student progress and provide feedback to regular teachers and school administration.
• Maintain attendance records and ensure student safety
• Communicate effectively with fellow teachers, support staff, and administrators to enhance instructional practices and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
• Engage in ongoing professional growth opportunities such as ongoing training and workshops to stay current with the latest developments in education.

Essential Duties:

• Communicates responsibly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership;
• Accounts for student attendance and punctuality;
• Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures;
• Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities;

Additional Responsibilities:

• Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent;
• Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communication;
• Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction;
• Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale;
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
