Job summary

Hofstra University is seeking a part-time teacher for the Dian e Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute. This role supports the classroom team, implements the established curriculum, and fosters a warm, welcoming environment for children and families on campus.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate’s Degree or CDA and brings経験 working in early childhood education. Flexibility to step into different roles is essential to support the center’s schedule and mission.

Qualifications

• Experience in a child care or early childhood education setting.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education with an ECE component/specialization preferred.

• Assisting in the execution of planned activities and overall classroom management.
• Carrying out the mission set forth by the Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute and Hofstra University.
• Understanding and respect for children, their developmental needs and interests; respect for a child’s family and culture; and commitment of continued professional development.

Reporting to the child care director, the teacher is responsible for providing a warm, nurturing classroom environment for children and a welcoming environment for parents and families. The teacher sets the standard of professionalism within the classroom, directing other team members in the following the curriculum, procedures and schedule set forth by the administration of the center.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Education component/specialization preferred.
• Experience working in a National Association for the Education of the Young Children ( NAEYC ) Accredited childcare center is a plus.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the NAEYC Accreditation Standards, NAEYC Accreditation process and Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum is preferred.
• Work experience with infants and toddlers is a plus.

Salary/Salary Range $18 per hour

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions. *Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
