Part-Time Peer Support Specialist — Saturday Shift

Job summary

LifeWorks Austin on-site Peer-Led Drop-In Center seeks a part-time Peer Support Specialist to join our Peer Services team. The role uses lived experience and training to provide group facilitation, mentorship, and community activities in a trauma-informed, recovery-focused setting.

The fixed Saturday shift runs 12:00pm–8:00pm with at least one additional 8-hour shift or two 4-hour shifts per month. Starting pay is $22.75/hour, paid bi-weekly, non-exempt.

Qualifications

• Requires GED or HS Diploma and 2 years of peer support experience.
• Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS) certification required.
• Lived experience with trauma and/or mental health challenges; demonstrated recovery.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered, healing-centered peer support services to diverse individuals.
• Promote recovery and wellness, helping clients initiate or maintain recovery.
• Meet with clients to establish supportive relationships and coordinate services.
• Facilitate on-site groups and community activities using approved curricula and activities.
• Engage in outreach to connect individuals with LifeWorks services and supports.
• Develop recovery-related presentations and outreach on topics such as harm reduction and health promotion.
• Advocate for clients within the community and organization.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of client services and progress in the agency database.
• Comply with funding, licensure, and program requirements.
