Job summary

LifeWorks Austin is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist to join our community-based Peer Services team. You will provide recovery-oriented peer support, group facilitation, mentorship, and education to individuals, using trauma-informed, strength-based approaches.

The role requires a GED or HS Diploma, 2 years of peer support experience, and certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS); benefits include PTO, holidays, health plan, HSA, and a 50% match retirement plan.

Qualifications

• GED or HS Diploma is required.
• Two years of peer support experience.
• State certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS) is required.
• Lived experience with trauma and substance use or mental health challenges.
• Experience with databases and Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered, healing-centered peer support services to diverse individuals.
• Promote recovery, resiliency, and accountability to support long-term recovery.
• Meet with individual clients to establish safe relationships and coordinate services.
• Facilitate regular support groups and community activities on-site or in the community.
• Engage in outreach to connect individuals with LifeWorks services.
• Develop and present recovery-related education on topics like harm reduction and trauma.
• Advocate for clients within the community and with internal staff.
• Maintain relationships with agency staff and community partners.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of client services and progress.
• Comply with funding, licensure, and agency requirements.
