Job summary

Aroostook Mental Health Services, Inc. in Ellsworth is seeking a compassionate peer support specialist to work part-time with adults in recovery through the Treatment Recovery Court program. You will provide one-on-one and group support, using your lived experience to inspire hope and resilience.

The schedule is 3 days per week, up to 24 hours total, with occasional flexibility. You will document services, maintain confidentiality, and collaborate with treatment providers to help participants

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Lived experience with substance use disorder.
• Experience in or with the criminal justice system.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Recovery Coach Academy training within four months of hire.
• CCAR Ethical Considerations training or CCAR training within nine months.
• Attend monthly coachervision.
• Register with the Maine Peer Recovery Coach Certification Board.
• CIPPS: Pre-Training within 30 days; monthly co-reflections; Core CIPSS training begins within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and group peer support services.
• Use lived recovery experience to inspire hope, motivation, and resilience.
• Support participants in achieving recovery and treatment goals.
• Help individuals identify strengths and overcome barriers.
• Connect participants with community resources and recovery supports.
• Encourage self-advocacy, accountability, and personal growth.
• Assist participants in navigating treatment court requirements.
• Document services and maintain confidentiality.
• Collaborate with treatment providers, community partners, and the recovery court team.
