Job summary

Aroostook Mental Health Services, Inc. invites applicants for a part-time Recovery Coach position in Machias to support adults in recovery through the Adult Treatment Recovery Court.

You will provide peer support, help participants set and meet goals, and collaborate with the recovery court team to promote stability and personal growth. Ideal candidates bring lived recovery experience, plus understanding of the criminal justice system, and a commitment to ethical peer support.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with a substance use disorder or insider knowledge in recovery.
• Lived experience within the criminal justice system.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Recovery Coach Academy training within four months of hire.
• CCAR Ethical Considerations training or CCAR training within nine months.
• Participation in monthly coachervision.
• Certification/participation with Maine Peer Recovery Coach Certification Board.
• Core CIPSS training timelines and prerequisites.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and group peer support services.
• Use your lived experience to inspire hope, motivation, and resilience.
• Support participants in achieving recovery and treatment goals.
• Help individuals identify strengths and overcome barriers.
• Connect participants with community resources and recovery supports.
• Encourage self-advocacy, accountability, and personal growth.
• Assist participants in navigating treatment court requirements.
• Document services and maintain confidentiality.
• Collaborate with treatment providers, community partners, and the recovery court team.
