Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Transporter in Huntley for part-time, rotating shifts. You will assist in safely moving patients, verifying identities, and ensuring equipment safety with diligent disinfection between transports.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and BLS certification (or within 90 days). Prior patient transport experience is preferred, and the benefits reflect our employee-focused approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS through American Heart Association (or within 90 days of employment).

Responsibilities

• Transport patients as assigned.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers.
• Prepare transport equipment for patient safety and comfort.
• Disinfect and wipe down equipment between transports.
• Assist patients onto transport equipment; seek assistance when needed.
• Maintain transport equipment cleanliness and report maintenance needs.
• Notify nursing or ancillary staff on patient arrival or departure.
• Handle patient documents, such as tickets to ride.
• Report any unusual symptoms during transport.
• Move and care for transport equipment during patient movement.
• Follow infection control, hand hygiene, PPE and isolation protocols.
• Safely transport patient oxygen after clinician setup.
• Provide feedback about equipment conditions and availability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
