Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest is seeking a part-time Patient Transporter for 20 hours per week. The schedule is Monday to Thursday, 6pm–11pm, with weekend rotation.

You will transport patients, verify identity with two identifiers, and ensure safe movement of patients and equipment. The role requires a High school diploma or equivalent and BLS certification; preferred 1 year of patient transport experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS through American Heart Association (within 90 days of employment).
• Preferred: at least 1 year experience with patient transport handling.

Responsibilities

• Specifically responsible for transporting patients as assigned.
• Responsible for verifying patient identity using two patient identifiers.
• Provide and adjust transport equipment for safety and comfort of the patient.
• Disinfect/wipe down equipment with approved cleaning product between transports.
• Assist patients onto transport equipment; seek additional help if needed.
• Own and maintain transport equipment, including routine cleaning and reporting maintenance needs.
• Notify nursing/ancillary staff on arrival or departure of patients.
• Attend to patient documents (e.g., ticket to ride).
• Report any unusual symptoms (fainting, shortness of breath) during transport.
• Move and care for transport equipment for patient movement.
• Follow infection control precautions (hand hygiene, PPE, isolation precautions).
• Safely transport patient oxygen after clinician setup.
• Provide feedback to management regarding equipment conditions and availability.
• Other duties as assigned.
