Job summary

Geisinger Community Medical Center is seeking a Part Time Patient Care Technician. The role offers a minimum hiring rate of $18.94 per hour with increases for experience and up to $3 shift differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends. The program also offers up to $40,000 in financial aid to become a nurse.

Responsibilities include patient care, clerical duties, specimen handling, and coordination of tests and transportation within the unit. BLS required within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience preferred: minimum 1 year in related work.
• Basic Life Support certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as directed within the nursing assistant scope of practice and the multidisciplinary care plan.
• Identifies and documents patient needs; reports changes to licensed personnel.
• Obtains and maintains specimen integrity per policy and physician order.
• Assists with activities of daily living and transportation of patients.
• Provides one-to-one patient safety watch as assigned.
• Processes specimens and transports to the laboratory in a timely manner.
• Performs point-of-care testing and maintains QC.
