Job summary

Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center is seeking a Paraprofessional Counselor for the Statewide Transitional Residential Program (STRP) in Los Angeles, CA. This 16-hour per week, part-time position offers two guaranteed 8-hour shifts and works within a 90-day step-down program for adults transitioning from state hospital care.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or related field preferred.
• One year experience in mental health, social services, or related role preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain communication with team members during shifts to cover tasks.
• Facilitate client transportation as needed.
• Complete sign-in/out procedures and rounds documentation accurately.
• Respond to calls during evenings and weekends.
• Monitor safety, conduct client rounds, and document observations.
• Promote ADLs and adherence to medication schedules.
