Job summary

Gateways Hospital & Mental Health Center in Los Angeles is seeking a Paraprofessional Counselor to support adults with chronic mental health disorders in residential care. You will monitor behavior, assist with treatment adherence, and help ensure safety and compliance with house rules during shifts.

Key duties include conducting rounds, assisting with ADLs and medications, documenting observations, and coordinating with the Residential Manager and treatment team to support discharge goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or related field preferred.
• One year of mental health or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report clients’ behaviors and activities.
• Provide supervision and support to residents during shifts.
• Conduct rounds and ensure safety, documentation, and house rules compliance.
• Prompt ADLs, medications, meals, and group activities.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate transport when needed.
