Job summary

The position is part-time with duties aligned to student learning and instruction. Under the direction of licensed staff, the paraeducator reinforces instruction, supports classroom routines, and participates in meetings such as PPT/IEP when required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Warm and supportive personality with the ability to relate to special needs children.
• Ability to respect the rights of all students and confidentiality.
• Prior experience working in a school or adolescence setting is preferred.
• Must meet highly qualified requirements: two years (48 credits) of college, an Associate's degree, or passing the ParaPro Assessment Test.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing classroom for beginning and ending of school year.
• Maintain daily classroom environment, set up learning centers and audio-visual equipment.
• Reinforce skills taught in daily lessons.
• Maintain behavior modification plans and schedules.
• Assist in teacher-prepared group lessons and individual seat work.
• Assist at art, music, physical education and other specialty classes as appropriate.
• Participate in all classroom activities including field trips, recess, lunch, and playground.
• Assist with the physical needs of children (toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, health, medical).
• Attend PPT or IEP meetings when required.
• Support transportation-related duties on buses as assigned.
